The first of its kind in the country, Kaushal Kendra, was inaugurated at Chavara, Kollam by the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Oommen Chandy, on 11th of July, 2015. The Minister for Labour and Rehabilitation, Mr. Shibu Baby John presided over the inaugural function. Mr. Jossie Joy, the Group Vice President at Oréll participated in the fest with other distinguished guests. This 1.5 crore project by the Government of Kerala is being implemented through the State's nodal skill development agency, the Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE).
"We are pleased and proud to be associated with KASE on implementing our Oréll Talk Oréll Digital Language Lab at the first Kausal Kendra in Chavara, near Kollam, Kerala. It is aimed at benefiting over 5,000 learners per year per centre and upon the completion of the project in all the Districts and Taluks in Kerala, there will be an estimated 3,75,000 learners every year benefiting from the unique and advanced features of our digital language labs", said Mr. Jossie Joy.
The use of iTell will bring a lot of changes in the users, who would find it very beneficial and would be more confident hereafter while speaking English and other selected languages.
The Kaushal Kendra has four units - the Oréll digital language lab, assessment and career counselling cell, the multi skill room and digital library. The aim of Kaushal Kendra is to help the rural youth to realise their career aptitude through the best global assessment tools and to provide guidelines for them to choose the course that is best suited for them after taking into consideration their socio-economic and educational backgrounds. Mr. Chandy was addressing the gathering after the inauguration of the country's first Kaushal Kendra at Chavara. The centre is designed to boost employability of educated youth at nominal costs. "Our children are excelling in academics, but need a finishing touch when it comes to employability. The Kaushal Kendra will provide the necessary push to our youth and the government will extend full support to this project. Our State has wasted several opportunities, but I request people to use this venture to progress in the digital world as other countries have done," he said. In his presidential address, Labour Minister Mr. Shibu Baby John said the Kaushal Kendra would make the youth of the State globally competitive. "The past trend of skill development centres in the country was to target school dropouts but after studying such centres in other countries, we realised that they can help take educated youth to better heights," he said.
